Hope Grows: Growing the Community

The Rose and Sunflower Provisional Groups from the Central San Diego area combined their professional talents, determination, and passion for philanthropy to plan and host a fundraising event this past January.  Although it was a difficult decision to pick just one, after much research the groups chose Generate Hope as the recipient of an impact event and the beneficiary of funds raised. Generate Hope is an organization providing long-term housing and recovery programs for women who have been sexually trafficked, allowing them to reintegrate into the San Diego community.

With a desire to tie the foundation of Generate Hope and the focus of our impact project together, the groups designed the event around a beautiful garden theme, wishing to grow hope and inspiration within all of the attendees. Thus, the Grow Hope event was created to support Generate Hope and the Junior League of San Diego. Funds raised will be used to help build a beautiful and sustainable garden for the Generate Hope home located in San Diego county.

The Grow Hope event was hosted by a downtown favorite hot-spot Southpaw Social Club, which allowed us their heated patio space to be able to really achieve a garden party feel. Guests were invited to purchased a ticket for $20, which included live music, gourmet flatbread pizzas, drink specials including a delicious specialty drink designed for our event, and a raffle ticket. The raffle prizes included: Michael Kors Handbags, A Romantic Night at the W Hotel, Spa and Salon gift certificates, Restaurant gift certificates, Foursome Golf Package at The Loma Santa Fe Country Club, Four Private Golf Lessons, Padres Field Level tickets, Jewelry, Midway Museum 4-pack, Fitness packages, and more! Cocktail tables were topped with wildflower-filled mason jars along with incredible succulent planter displays.

During the event, guests were asked to help us out by writing an uplifting message or inspirational quote to the strong women of Generate Hope. On their way out they were offered a thank you gift as a small token for their donation, which included wildflower seeds, lip balm, and a hang-tag explaining how the funds would be used for Generate Hope.
