On behalf of the Nominating Committee, we would like to formally congratulate our President-Elect candidate, Rachel Scatizzi, and Executive Director-Elect candidate, Jennifer Glaser! Along with the rest of the Board Slate, the membership will vote to approve Nominating’s slated leaders at our Voting Meeting on January 12, 2016.
Rachel Scatizzi, our President-Elect candidate, has been a member of the Junior League of San Diego since 2008. She is a three-time past member of the Board of Directors, having served as Fund Development Council Director (now part of the Executive Management Team) and Vice President; last year, Rachel served as the Chair of the Nominating Committee. She started her League tenure serving as a member on several committees within the Fund Development Council, where she learned the value of community-driven fundraising. Professionally, Rachel is an attorney with her own law firm, Smith & Scatizzi, LLP. Rachel has been named a finalist for the Women Who Mean Business Awards and has been selected as one of San Diego’s Top Young Attorneys and a Super Lawyers Rising Star. Rachel is passionate about continuing to progress JLSD forward, by making meaningful strides to foster a positive membership experience and make a measurable impact on our community.
Our Executive Director-Elect candidate, Jennifer Glaser, is in her eighth year as a member of JLSD. Jen embraced leadership early in her League career, serving as Treasurer in her second active year. Jen has a broad range of experience, having served on the Finance, Community Outreach, Membership, and Fund Development Councils. In her professional career, Jen is a Certified Public Accountant at Lavine Lofgren Morris & Engelberg, LLP for the past 11 years. Currently she is serving her second term as Treasurer on the Board of Directors. Jen’s management experience, financial expertise, and savvy institutional knowledge of JLSD will prove invaluable in her role as our 2017-18 Executive Director.
Next year, while Rachel and Jen prepare for their presumptive roles, Nicole Steele will serve as JLSD’s President and Lisa Cobble will serve as Executive Director. The Nominating Committee slated Nicole and Lisa in Fall 2014 and the membership voted to approve that slate in January of this year. Next year also marks the final year of JLSD’s current 2014-17 Strategic Plan. As President-Elect, Rachel will spearhead the Board’s efforts to prepare a new Strategic Plan for 2017-20.
JLSD’s active membership will vote on the Board Slate at the January Voting Meeting. The Nominating Committee also congratulates its other slated candidates, Brandi Cropper (Vice President), Shauna Sliwkanich (Recording Secretary), Virginia Chambers (Director at Large), and Emily Green (Director at Large). For purposes of quorum, our current active membership consists of 435 members. Please direct any questions to Joni Flaherty, Nominating Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
